About

This travel site is for deaf, hard of hearing Australian (and worldwide) travellers of all ages. People who know sign-language, like interpreters, and people who are interested in sign-language also use this site!

You’ll find information in written english and/or Auslan (Australian sign-language) about:

  • Countries that I and my friends visit.
  • General travel advice.
  • International deaf and hard of hearing people.
  • Any volunteer opportunities or human rights issues involving deaf people.

This website’s secondary aim is to show you how creating accessible media for people is easier than than you’d think in today’s techno-whizz world.

Deaf Planet’s coordinator is: Hilary Fisher. Please feel free to contribute, ask me a question, or obtain assistance!

Deaf Planet’s regular contributors are Julian O’Shea, Catherine Miller, Elissa Suhr and Nicky Medlen.
